The is the view of the launch from Los Angeles at 1:48 am. You can see the bright red rocket coming over the horizon, the first stage booster separation - and then landing on the drone ship Of Course I Still Love You. It's amazing what you can see from Los Angeles when a Vandenberg launch happens.

April 8, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse from an Insta360 camera. Check out the moon's shadow as it moves across the sky over Crab Orchard Lake in Carbondale, Illinois. Very interesting to see it as a tiny planet. 3/4 of the way through the eclipse the county shot off some fireworks on the bottom of the screen.

To get a little more insight into the changes that happen during a Total Solar Eclipse, we set up a monitoring station. You can see the eclipse changes through a pinhole board, the temperature change during the event, and any shadow bands. We didn't see any shadow bands in this area, but on the concrete parking lot behind us they were pretty visible.

Shot on a GoPro, watch the moon pass in front of the Sun over Crab Orchard Lake in Carbondale, Illinois. Unedited from start to finish, but sped up so you can appreciate the movement of the rings of sunsets around the shadow. You can clearly see the eclipse from a position exactly in the center of the path of totality. It really looks like the Eye of Sauron.
